Public Archive of Montenegro
Archive of Montenegro, formed in 1951 inherited the documentation of Public Archive of Montenegro which began its work in 1895. It owns records from Montenegrin ministries from their very beginnings in 1879, records of Great Court, State Council, Ministerial Council, National Parliament and other administrative bodies and institutions founded by 1916, then the records of emigrational governments which worked from 1916 to 1921, as well as Montenegrin Committee for Union (1917-1918).
As a parent body, Archive of Montenegro has from its foundation claimed and continues to do so from republic bodies’ registries and institutions and other civil-legal and natural persons of significance to the Republic. Archive is bound to sort the records and keep it accessible for scientific researches. Records of Montenegro keeps over 75 archive funds with 4.5million of various documents.
